E-mail is usually our primary means for quick, efficient
communications.
The telephone is usually only necessary at the beginning stages of development, when it's also important to go over all the details as we develop a planning worksheet. We manage clients throughout the U.S. without any problems.
.
Regular mail is also important. You can mail any materials needed for your web site, such as non-digital photographs (returned after scanning them) and brochures. You’ll also return your signed working agreement and planning
worksheet by mail, as well as payments at various stages of the construction process. E-mail attachments can also be used to send graphics and text files. Federal Express or UPS work well for rush jobs, too. And there’s always the
fax machine!
You can look at your web site “under construction” for approvals either on your web server, if your account is already in place, on right on my web site. For example, custom graphics for your site can be posted
in a secure location right on my site for your suggestions .
FTP is the main Internet tool used to upload drafts of your web pages to your host computer and work on them remotely just as easily as if I lived next door. Of
course, we need your password to gain access, but you can always change it later if you like, after the web site is finished. The final testing and changes are made on your ISP's computer. But since they usually aren't linked up to search
engines yet or promoted, they remain private until they're complete.
We use the same procedures and Internet tools for our clients right around the corner, too. It’s just a cost-effective and efficient way to work. I suppose
there's no reason I couldn't do the same thing with a client in London or Duseldorf. The Internet is truly an international community.
The final question you might have whether or not you can get someone just
as good locally? After all, there are a lot of computer wiz-kids out there who’ll work for peanuts. Computer science grad students also have been known to develop web pages on the side. But young people and students lack experience and
don't understand much about business or marketing. There are also excellent computer programmers all over the country. However, designing a web site is more of a marketing communications function than a computer function. There are some
excellent marketers, too, but many of them don't have a good understanding of graphic design or computers. You'll find ad agencies that will develop a quality web site for you, but you'll pay through the nose. One web design firm that
won’t even consider a project that costs less than $75,000.
You need a diversified Virtual Team of multi-talented individuals to give you the best job at a reasonable price. Our virtual teams are made up of highly talented programmers, designers, artists, copywriters, marketing gurus and more, from all over the country. We customize our teams for each client, assuring you of the best fit for your needs. If you had to hire separate individuals for each of those functions yourself, your web site costs would skyrocket. You can get agency-quality concepts in fraction of the time and budget that an agency has to charge to cover its overhead.
